During the 2023 Legislative Session, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed legislation appropriating $40M for the FY24 NM Regional Recreation Centers and Quality of Life Grant.

What type of projects?

This fund is for projects statewide to plan, design, furnish, equip, and construct regional recreational projects that contribute to the quality of life for regional residents. Recreational facilities include a community center, a skatepark, rodeo grounds, picnic shelters, or structures that enhance public-based recreational activities.

 

Who can apply?

Eligible entities include all municipalities, counties, and tribal governments, as well as special districts.

Important Deadlines

Applications for the grant open on August 23, 2023, and the deadline to apply is September 13, 2023, at 5:00 pm.

Please note: The fund has a reversion date of June 30, 2024. This means you must complete the project by the end of FY24. DFA will only award funds for projects that meet this statutory deadline.

The NM Department of Finance & Administration is pleased to announce the funding opportunity for NM Regional Recreation Centers and Quality of Life grant. $40 million is available for communities statewide to plan, design, furnish/equip and construct recreational projects.

This funding exists to improve the quality of life for New Mexico residents by creating new or expanding existing regional recreational facilities.  These recreational facilities are defined as any project that will contribute to the quality of life for regional residents.  Some examples of these recreational facilities could be a community center, skatepark, rodeo grounds, picnic shelters, or structures that enhance public based recreational activities.
